Two streams: household packaging (Citeo or Léko) and toys (Ecomaison), each with its own membership, per-item tariff and IDU. Electronic toys add the electrical equipment stream, and battery-powered ones add batteries. Since 10 July 2026 a toy maker without a French establishment acts through a French representative. Amazon.fr, Cdiscount and toy marketplaces ask for the toys IDU specifically, not just packaging.

The toys stream

France's toys scheme (jouets) started in 2022 under Ecomaison. Contributions are per item by product code, from a few cents for small items to a euro or more for large ride-ons, with eco-modulation for durability and repairability. Declarations are yearly; small producers have a simplified regime.

What is easy to miss

  • Electronic and battery toys: add the EEE stream (ecosystem or Ecologic) and the batteries stream. A talking plush toy is three streams.
  • Games and puzzles count as toys; sports equipment for children falls under sports and leisure instead.
  • Packaging is always the second stream, and the Triman logo with sorting instructions is required on the box.

Frequently asked questions

Is CE marking the same as EPR?

No. CE is product safety; EPR is end-of-life financing. Toys sold in France need both.

Do we need the toys stream if we only sell through a French toy retailer?

If the retailer buys and resells, it is the producer. If you ship to consumers, you are.

How is a toy's eco-contribution calculated?

Per item, by Ecomaison product code; we code your catalogue once and declare units sold.
