French EPR for Amazon.fr and marketplace sellers

Marketplaces operating in France ask for your EPR numbers. Without them, listings go dark.

Quick answer

If you sell to French consumers through Amazon.fr, Cdiscount, ManoMano, Fnac, TikTok Shop or your own store and you have no establishment in France, you are the producer for French EPR and must appoint a French EPR representative (mandatory since 10 July 2026). Marketplaces request an IDU for each stream you fall under — at minimum household packaging.

What you are dealing with

Platform checks

French law makes marketplaces jointly responsible for sellers' EPR compliance, so they request IDUs and can deactivate listings.

Shipping boxes count

Every parcel to a French consumer contains household packaging in scope.

Product streams on top

Electronics, textiles, furniture, toys, sports and DIY items each need their own membership and IDU.

FAQ

Common questions

Why did Amazon.fr ask for my EPR number?

French law makes marketplaces jointly responsible for non-compliant sellers, so Amazon.fr requests IDUs for the EPR streams your products fall under.

I ship from a warehouse in Germany. Do I still need French EPR?

Yes, if your goods reach French consumers and you are not established in France, you are the producer in France.

Does Amazon's pay-on-behalf offer replace a representative?

Marketplace programmes vary by stream and change over time. Since 10 July 2026 French law requires producers not established in France to appoint a representative; check what a platform programme covers before relying on it.
