## By EPR stream

A company in several streams is counted once in each. The two columns differ slightly because 284 company-and-stream pairs hold more than one IDU and 48 IDUs are listed under more than one company.

## How it was counted

- We downloaded the complete file ADEME publishes for the dataset « REP : producteurs, IDU » and checked it against the MD5 checksum ADEME publishes for the original file (030cac2b8461545826eca553c3b73d25).
- Each row is one IDU in one approval category. IDUs are distinct values of Identifiant_unique; companies are distinct values of Identifiant_societe.
- “Registered outside France” means the Pays field is not FR.
- Cross-check: the companies by country add up to the total once the 1,767 companies listed with more than one country are counted on their own line.
- ADEME's API also returns a distinct count, but it is approximate at this size: on the same day it gave 169,507 where the file holds 170,018. We publish the exact figure.

## What the count does not tell you

- An IDU means a company is registered for a stream. It does not tell you whether the company is compliant, or whether it needs a French mandataire.
- The registered country is not the same as establishment: a company registered abroad may have a French establishment, and the reverse.
- One stream code in the file, PAP, matches none of the 19 current streams; it is shown as ADEME publishes it.
